Electrowetting display (EWD) is the most potential technology among new electronic paper technologies. It not only has advantages of electrophoretic (EPD) but also can realize color video playback. Therefore, this been widely studied in recent years. Driving waveform a voltage sequence which drive pixels to gray scales EWDs. As one key technologies, it directly affects effect pixels. In paper, we give review principle EWDs and research status driving waveforms. At same time, contact angle hysteresis, charge trapping, oil splitting are reviewed, provide reference value for designing
